Raspberry Gin Spritzer Cocktail Recipe (Berry Gin Spritz)

Indulge in the refreshing and flavorful Raspberry Gin Spritzer, a tasty cocktail perfect for a romantic evening or a relaxed gathering. Only 4 ingredients are needed to make this easy raspberry cocktail!

Over the past few years, there has been a resurgence of speakeasies and classic cocktail lists with drinks you once thought only grandpa and grandma drank.

These bars usually employ a cocktail master who is more than willing and able to mix you up a sloe gin fizz or a smoked old-fashioned.

They grab a cocktail shaker or a fine mesh strainer and pop out a delicious cocktail you wouldn’t be able to make at home.

As I get older, the nights I spend “out on the town” dwindle. Fewer nights eating out leads to fewer nights drinking out and the need to learn how to be a home bartender.

It was not until recently that I became comfortable with gin cocktails, even with my years of bartending. No better time to fix that than now!

A lot of the cocktails served at bars could be more approachable.

By that, I mean most people will not make them at home – they serve them at bars for a reason.

I set out to make a delicious drink that feels fancy enough to celebrate (like for Valentine’s Day) but easy enough that you can make it at home with no problems.

This easy raspberry gin cocktail has only 4 ingredients, is very drinkable, and doesn’t require a cocktail shaker.

If you are having a party, mix up the gin/raspberry part and add the “fizz” – the club soda – as drinks are served.

Raspberry Gin Spritzer Ingredients

  • Gin: Gin serves as the base spirit for this delightful raspberry cocktail. It contributes a botanical and juniper flavor that pairs perfectly with the fruity notes.
  • Raspberry Liqueur: The star ingredient that imparts this delightful cocktail with its vibrant color and sweet raspberry flavor. The liqueur complements the gin’s botanical notes, creating a fruity flavor profile.
  • Club Soda: Also recognized as sparkling water, soda water, or seltzer water, club soda provides effervescence to the drink, making it refreshing and bubbly. Its neutral taste helps balance the other flavors without overpowering them.
  • Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice adds a zesty and citrusy kick to the cocktail. It provides a tangy contrast to the sweet raspberry liqueur, creating a well-balanced and refreshing beverage perfect for the summer months.

The Best Gin for Simple Cocktail Recipes

If you are a gin lover, you probably have a favorite premium gin – my go-to is St. George Terroir Gin.

For simple cocktails, I go back and forth from St. George’s gins to Bombay Sapphire.

Recommended Raspberry Liqueurs

Choosing the perfect raspberry liqueur is crucial for achieving that distinct raspberry flavor in your raspberry gin cocktail.

When navigating the liquor aisle, it’s helpful to search for ingredients that explicitly include the term “Framboise,” which is French for raspberry. Framboise liqueurs are specially crafted to capture the essence of ripe raspberries, making them a fitting choice for your cocktail.

One excellent option for raspberry liqueur is Black Raspberry Liqueur and a popular choice among cocktail enthusiasts is Chambord.

Known for its rich and authentic raspberry taste, Chambord brings a deep and luscious fruity dimension to your cocktail. It’s perfect for those seeking a well-balanced and classic raspberry liqueur to elevate their drinks.

If you can’t find raspberry liqueur or want to experiment with alternative flavors, consider substituting with Raspberry Vodka.

Raspberry Vodka can impart a strong raspberry essence to your cocktail, offering a delightful kick of both fruitiness and alcohol.

For an even more effervescent and complex twist, Lindemans Framboise Lambic is a unique substitute. This Belgian raspberry beer not only adds a pronounced raspberry character but also contributes natural carbonation.

It creates an intriguing effervescence that can bring an extra layer of fizz and flavor to your raspberry gin cocktail, making it the perfect addition for those who enjoy a bit of beer-inspired twist in their cocktails.

How to Make a Berry Gin Spritz

Add the Gin: Pour gin into a glass. The gin serves as the base spirit in this tasty cocktail, imparting its unique botanical and juniper flavors.

Add Raspberry Liqueur: Next, pour in the raspberry liqueur. This component not only lends the spritzer its beautiful rosy hue but also infuses it with a sweet and fruity raspberry essence, complementing the gin splendidly.

Squeeze the Lime: Extract the juice from 1-2 lime wedges, depending on your taste preferences. Lime juice adds a zesty and citrusy kick to the cocktail, enhancing its overall flavor.

Top with Club Soda: To create that effervescent and bubbly charm, pour in club soda. It’s a flexible ingredient, so you can adjust the amount based on how fizzy you prefer your drink. A gentle pour typically does the trick.

Give It a Stir: Using a stirrer or a long spoon, gently mix the ingredients together. This ensures that the flavors blend and the drink cools uniformly.

Raspberry Cocktail Garnishes

Fresh Berries: Float a few fresh raspberries on the drink’s surface. They not only add a burst of color but also complement the raspberry liqueur with their natural sweetness.

Citrus: Enhance the cocktail’s zesty character by adding a thin lime or lemon slice. The citrusy aroma and slight tang beautifully balance the fruity and herbal notes.

Sprig of Mint: A sprig of fresh mint adds a touch of aromatic freshness to your Raspberry Gin Spritzer. This simple garnish not only enhances the visual presentation but also provides a fresh scent as you take your first sip.

How to Serve a Raspberry Gin Spritzer

When serving a Raspberry Gin Fizz, opt for glassware that complements the drink while enhancing its visual appeal.

A wine glass, spritz glass, or tall glass are all excellent choices to showcase this vibrant cocktail.

A large wine glass adds a touch of sophistication and allows the exquisite raspberry hue to shine through. The spritz glass, with its slender and elongated design, emphasizes the refreshing qualities of the drink, while a tall glass provides ample space for the effervescence to unfold.

The choice of glassware not only influences the presentation but also enhances the overall drinking experience, making each sip of your Raspberry Gin Fizz a true pleasure for both the eyes and the palate.

Ingredient Variations

While I think this drink’s ingredients create a winning combination, there are other ingredients that you can use as substitutes.

Pink Gin: To create the pinkest drink possible, consider using Pink Gin, a variation that’s infused with Angostura bitters. The bitters not only add a rosy hue but also introduce a unique herbal and aromatic dimension to your cocktail.

Lemon Juice: If you prefer a slightly different citrus twist, swap the fresh lime juice with fresh lemon juice. Lemon juice offers a brighter and more lemony zest, adding a new layer of flavor complexity to your spritzer.

Simple Syrup: If you can’t find raspberry liqueur or prefer a homemade touch, you can make your own raspberry syrup.

Simmer fresh or frozen raspberries with sugar and water, then use a fine mesh strainer to remove the raspberry seeds from the mixture to get a rich and sweet raspberry syrup that works perfectly in your spritzer.

Rose Water: If you want to introduce a subtle floral note to your drink, consider adding a drop or two of rose water. Be cautious, as rose water is quite potent, and a little goes a long way. It can lend a fragrant and delicate aroma to your Raspberry Gin Spritzer.
