You may think that this drink is supposed to be fancy, but in all reality, it doesn’t have to be. A Grapefruit Mimosa the perfect drink if you want something a little on the lighter side or you want to start drinking just a little earlier in the day.

What if you have a bunch of champagne laying around and don’t know what to do with it? This drink is also very simple, which means you don’t have to spend all day making it. I get excited to try different drinks and I think you will too.

How to Make a Grapefruit Mimosa

The next step is actually making the Mimosa with grapefruit. Don’t worry, these steps are so simple that I’m certain anyone can do it. As I walk you through making this mimosa, you’re going to wonder why you haven’t made this dish before.

  1. Fill glass halfway with grapefruit juice.
  2. Top with Prosecco.
  3. Add garnishes if you like.

How simple is that? If you don’t have Prosecco, you can use a bottle of sparkling wine of your choice. Easy, right?

Origin of the Mimosa

The really cool thing about the mimosa is that it was made by a bartender at the Ritz Hotel in Paris. Frank Meier is the one that created this awesome drink and he simply mixed juice and sparkling wine. You can mix it up however you like it too!

What Do I Need to Make a Mimosa?

As I mentioned earlier, you only need sparkling wine and juice. While this mimosa recipe calls for Prosecco and grapefruit juice, this is not the only way to make it. The most popular mimosa uses champagne and orange juice.

Here are a few options for the type of champagne and juice to use.

  • Cava or dry Prosecco
  • Sparkling wine and orange juice
  • Peach juice
  • Strawberry juice

Helpful Tips & FAQs for Making Mimosas

The really cool thing about making a mimosa is that you can always start out and change things up. As someone who has been making mimosas for a while, I wanted to share a few tips with you.

The Perfect Ratio

When you’re making a mimosa, you truly need to work on having the perfect ratio. When you’re making it, don’t add too much of each ingredient, keep it the same. This is truly one of the best tips for making the perfect drink.

Use a Tall Glass

I don’t know why tall glasses look so much cuter when it comes to mimosas, but they do. I enjoy using a tall wine glass or a champagne flute. Some say that it helps the bubbles last longer.

You can use whatever you have on hand to make these mimosas. The Grapefruit Mimosa will taste yummy no matter which glass you put it in.

Stir the Mimosas

One of my favorite tips ever for making a mimosa is that you don’t want to shake them. Champagne is something that must be dealt with gently and not with force.

What Should I Serve with a Pink Grapefruit Mimosa?

Now that I have you all excited about making this Grapefruit Mimosa, you may be wondering what you should serve with it. Traditionally, Mimosas can be served with different breakfast foods. My waffle brunch board is a perfect pairing for these mimosas.

However, mimosas aren’t only meant for breakfast. You can serve with appetizers, popcorn, nuts, and so much more. I always put this mimosa with different dishes and see what tastes the best.

Honestly, you don’t need to have anything with this drink. You can simply make it and enjoy it. I promise you won’t regret it in any way.

What Juice is Good for a Mimosa?

When it comes down to it, it’s always fun to experiment with the different kinds of juices that you have. For this recipe, we’re using grapefruit juice, but you can use cranberry juice, peach juice, or even mango juice. The possibilities are endless.

And, if you have the time, fresh-squeezed juice is the way to go. (When I’m feeling “serious” about my juice, I pull out my tabletop juicer – I love this thing!)

How Do I Make a Mimosa Bar?

What if you want to skip the individual drinks and have a mimosa bar? Well, you can do that. You can have a mimosa bar with the following ingredients:

  • 1bottle (750 ml) champagne
  • 1bottle (750 ml) prosecco wine
  • 4 cups of each of the following: grapefruit juice, kiwi-strawberry juice, and orange juice.

Make according to the type of mimosa you’d like to enjoy. Mimosa bars are great for parties where you don’t want to serve heavy alcohol.
