I first got the idea for this recipe when I went to Chicago Gourmet a few years ago.

I went to a wine mixology class and they mixed red wine and cider – it was delicious!

I grabbed a bottle of cheap, sweet white wine that I had laying around and some Honeycrisp apples.

I like that type of apple for sangria because it is true to its name and stays crisp.

Add in a healthy spattering of grapes and substitute soda water with cider and you have a cocktail perfect for passing out Halloween candy.

Or an autumn brunch. 🙂

I picked up some hard cider at the grocery store but you can use any cider you want really – I think we have used Angry Orchard hard cider every time.

White Wine Apple Cider Sangria Ingredients

Honeycrisp Apples: Honeycrisp apples, known for their sweet and crisp flesh, add a delightful fruitiness and a crunchy texture to the sangria. They complement the other fruits and absorb the flavors of the liquid.

Red Grapes: Halved red grapes contribute juicy sweetness to the sangria. They infuse the drink with their fruity essence and provide a refreshing element.

Lemon: The lemon, cut into pieces, imparts a zesty and slightly tangy citrus flavor to the sangria. It balances the sweetness and adds a hint of brightness.

Lime: Lime pieces add zing to the sangria, enhancing its overall tartness and freshness.

Sweet White Wine: A sweet white wine bottle serves as the sangria’s primary liquid base. It brings a delightful sweetness and additional fruity notes to the drink.

Orange Liqueur: Orange liqueur, such as triple sec or Cointreau, adds a rich citrus flavor and a touch of sweetness to the sangria.

Sugar: Sugar is added to sweeten the sangria further and enhance its overall flavor. The amount can be adjusted to personal taste.

Hard Cider: Three bottles of hard cider are included to provide effervescence and a crisp apple flavor to the sangria. The hard cider complements the sweet white wine and adds a fizzy element.

How To Make White Wine Apple Cider Sangria

Prepare the Sangria Mixture: Take a large pitcher and combine all the ingredients except for the cider.

This includes Honeycrisp apples, halved red grapes, lemon pieces, lime pieces, sweet white wine, orange liqueur, and sugar.

Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure that the flavors blend together.

The apples, grapes, and citrus will infuse their essence into the wine, creating a delicious medley.

Refrigerate for Flavor Infusion: Cover the pitcher and place it in the refrigerator after stirring.

Allow the sangria mixture to chill and infuse for at least 4 hours.

The fruits and flavors will meld during this time, and the sangria will become more aromatic and flavorful.

Serving the Sangria: When you’re ready to serve, take a glass and fill it halfway with the prepared wine mixture from the pitcher.

The chilled sangria base should be aromatic and rich with fruity and citrusy notes.

Top Up with Cider: Fill the glass with hard cider to complete the sangria.

The cider adds a delightful effervescence and apple flavor, creating a dynamic contrast with the wine mixture.

Enjoy: Your White Wine Apple Cider Sangria is ready to be enjoyed.

Sip and savor the refreshing and well-balanced flavors, making it a perfect choice for warm days or social gatherings.
